Rüüt

Biography

Estonian ensemble Rüüt represents new and diverse folk music by offering a fresh take on the search for its essence. Their thorough and precise arrangements are based on old runo songs and instrumental tunes. At the same time, their repertoire has new compositions that reflect musical influences from different countries and styles.

In Rüüt, the backgrounds of an actress, a jazz musician and two diatonic accordion players meet. Through the collaboration within the group, different sounds and musical ideas are merged to create something new and unique. Rüüt offers therefore a good listening experience for folk music lovers, for people interested in technical arrangements and for those who enjoy travelling among aery musical landscapes.

Rüüt has played at many of the festivals in Estonia and in 2015 released a debut album called “Maasikille” which was also nominated as album of the year at Etnokulbid awards.
