Biography

Orquesta Akokán is a Cuban big band that pays tribute to the golden era of mambo and cha-cha-cha. Led by vocalist José “Pepito” Gómez and pianist Mike Eckroth, the band is a collective of musicians from both Cuba and the United States. Their music is a vibrant fusion of Afro-Cuban rhythms, soulful vocals, and swinging horns, evoking the energy and joy of 1940s and 1950s Havana. With a modern twist on classic sounds, Orquesta Akokán brings a fresh and exciting energy to the traditional Cuban music scene.
