Novi Fosili is a Croatian pop group, one of the most popular in the 1970s and 1980s
The band [b]Novi Fosili[/b] was formed in 1969. In the beginning, they performed mainly as a backing band for popular singers, including Ivica Šerfezi and Ljupka Dimitrovska .
Their first discographic success happened in 1976, when Rajko Dujmić joined the band. That year they performed on most significant festival in Split, with song [i]Diridonda[/i], which was huge success all over the Yugoslavia. They became the most popular band from ex-Yugoslavia, and they won many awards for popularity. In this period they released 15 single and 6 LP releases, and some of songs became all-time hits ([i]Da te ne volim[/i], [i]Reci mi tiho[/i], [i]Saša[/i], [i]Šuti moj dječače plavi[/i], [i]Sanja[/i], [i]Plava košulja[/i]…)
In 1983. Sanja Doležal replaces Đurica Barlović as lead vocalist. Band with new line-up released many LPs that were among best-selled releases amongst ex-Yugoslavian pop music.
In 1987. the band represented Yugoslavia on Eurovision contest with song [i]Ja sam za ples[/i], and they were fourth. Single was released in nine European countries.
In October 2001. they officially announced breaking up, after more than 30 years of playing. Since 2005. active again.
