Isabelle Antena

Biography

Isabelle Antena is a French pop and jazz singer. Born on 1960-05-28 in Villepinte near Paris, Isabelle Powaga began her career in the trio [a24163] on the label [l=Les Disques du Crépuscule] (based in Brussels, Belgium), touring with [a=Paul Haig], [a=Tuxedomoon] and [a=Cabaret Voltaire]. She then recorded her first solo album in London with Martin Hayles. As a solo artist she became particularly popular in Japan. She has recorded a string of solo albums as Isabelle Antena, as well as under the names [a=Antena], Powaga Sisters and [a=Pause Cafe]. In 2003 she featured on [a=Buscemi]’s album Camino Real, and released a best of, L’alphabet Du Plaisir. In 2006 her song Nothing To Lose appeared on the [m960634]. She slipped away after her French Riviera album, which was a collaboration with producers from the japanese nu-jazz scene, [a=Kyoto Jazz Massive], [a=Jazztronik], [a=Yukihiro Fukutomi], [a=Tatsuo Sunaga]. In 2017 she made a comeback album. Her daughter [a5068143] has chosen the same pseudonym family name. Fun fact: she used to work as an au pair for Rick Wakeman somewhere in the 1970s.
