Well-known for his work in film and television, notably his many collaborations with director [a47572], winning a Grammy for the soundtrack to the TV series Twin Peaks.
Played piano and French horn as a teenager before studying at the Manhattan School of Music. After graduating he landed a job at a music publisher, where he wrote songs under the pen name [a=Andy Badale] throughout the 1960s and early 1970s.
Received a lifetime achievement award at the 2008 World Soundtrack Awards, and the Henry Mancini award in 2011.
